3 Link Building and Link Training Sites Worth Learning From
Link building and link training is important (all be it a little dull) if you want to improve the ranking of your blog in the search engines. This is one area I don’t even pretend to know a lot about but there are loads of people that do (and I even found some women this time….!)
I wanted to ask the experts about reciprocal linking between blogs and whether that was still an activity worth taking part in if you are linking to relevant/similar blogs and I left three people a comment who I have listed below. I choose them because I thought they were great link building and link training sites worth subscribing to and learning from :
The Link Spiel – At this blog you will find link building tips, tools, techniques and the occasional opinion from Debra Mastaler. I enjoy her writing style although I couldn’t see a place to subscribe to her RSS feed and had to go to the end of the blog to find it (I knew that because my daughter started a blogger blog and that’s where I found hers!)
Search Engine Journal - I read some great articles here and two in particular about using how to articles/videos and ebooks as a way of building links and also Lists too. There is a lot to learn on this site and I subscribed to their RSS feed by email so am looking forward to reading that.
Link building techniques with linkers blog was the first of the three that I visited and there is some great information (in list format) on this blog like “7 effective ways to increase your Technorati Authority” “Top 10 link building blogs of 2008″ and other similar things. This was the only blog giving away some free information in the form of a report called “Link building for beginners”
The one thing I have learnt about link building from reading these blogs is that you have to focus on providing valuable content first and the one way inbound links will naturally follow – which I guess is absolutely true because here I am linking to them because of the great content they provide.

UPDATE : Debra Mastaler replied to my question about link building and said this
“Diane, I think it’s fine to swap links with sites topically or geographically relevant to yours. Part of the “power” behind recips is the control you have over where they are placed, what they say and where they point. I wouldn’t make it the only tatic I use nor would I do more than the 8-10 you’re suggesting but if the partner sites were good ones (were indexed, used same/similar keywords, had similar/same readership) then yes, I would swap.”

Danny from Linkersblog replied too and said
Q: Is reciprocal linking with other relevant blogs still worth doing?
Response: I great post that goes more into depth on this topic is: “Reciprocal Links and Non-Reciprocal Links.” It gives a clear understanding of why you should do one over the other.
If I find 10 blogs that are similar and/or relevant and we link to each other is this a waste of time now?
Response: I would not recommend this strategy unless each of you are receiving a one way link from each other. If this strategy is done right, everyone should have 5 different backlinks to their website.
Is it all about the inbound link?
Response: Getting a lot of inbound links is important for getting up your link popularity to your website. The more quality and high page rank inbound links that you have coming into your site, the greater your Google page rank will be.

Hi Diane,
Just want to mention that your readers can also benefit from automatic link systemts if they are created in a decent way and fit to what Google and other search engines like to see.
- They can be a good supplement to the social marketing system we learn from the resources of BlogSuccess.com , see http://www.blogsuccess.com/l.htm?w=abb&p=DianeCor
Thanks for your informative and clever posts, Diane
